Thank you to all the family and friends who came out to celebrate the Junior & Adult NatureSketch artists! The drawings look splendid and I believe all the artists should be proud of what they’ve achieved over the past 7 weeks.
Unfortunately, we had 9 artists unable to attend the show, but the sketches will remain on display until Sunday November 18th for anyone who missed out.
On behalf of the Bateman Foundation and the Toronto NS team, we hope that you all enjoyed the program and continue to explore the urban wilderness. We would be super grateful if you could also share what you’ve learned with others - more people need to understand the importance of our natural heritage and be respectful towards these fragile ecosystems.
I’ve spoken about this before, but it deserves one final mention: carry a small sketchbook with you and draw a little bit each day. 5 minutes of daily sketching is better than 2 hours once a week. Just like how an acorn doesn’t become an oak tree overnight, it takes time for your drawing skills to develop. Be curious, slow down and draw what’s meaningful to you.
Special thanks to staff at Toronto Botanical Garden for once again helping me prepare for the Student Art Show. Much appreciated.
Happy Nature Sketching!
Alan
