TBG Garden Sketchbook Class

Last evening I had an outdoor sketching class in the beautiful setting of Toronto Botanical Garden.  A massive storm passed through the area which gave us concern, but the skies cleared and the sun returned in time for the class.

This class was for beginners to explore the fundamentals of sketching plants and flowers from life.  More than half of the participants had not drawn or picked up a pencil in a very long time, but everyone was enthusiastic and up for the challenge!  A selection of their wonderful sketches can be seen in the photos below.

Some people found drawing plants to be a very soothing, meditative experience while others were a bit frustrated with the technical aspects of drawing, which is fine too.  It’s normal to feel frustration when you're learning to draw, and more importantly, it shows that you’re trying.

Thank you to everybody who came out for the class: Myint, Charlotte, Anna, Lucy, Petra, Rosalyn, Anne, Deb, Jackie, Janet.  A few people were unfortunately unable to attend.

Special thanks to the staff at TBG for working to help make the class possible.
