LEAF Plant Drawing Workshop

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending a gorgeous afternoon with a talented group for plant drawing enthusiasts.  Outdoor workshops always carry the risk of being cancelled due to stormy weather, but we got lucky and the day was absolutely perfect for drawing.  The class took place at the LEAF Learning Garden behind the historic Wychwood Barns.

Although there were 8 people registered for the class, a few didn’t make it (I hope nothing bad happened to them).  For those who did attend, I was able to spend more time with each person and watch as their drawings progressed into the finished works you see in the photos below.

Thank you Vivian, Joan, Paul, Jen, Kristina and Sally for taking part in the workshop.  I’m impressed by what you all accomplished as it’s challenging to draw plants in the field under changing light.  Not to mention the slight breeze.  I hope that you’ll take what you learned and continue drawing all the fascinating native plants that you encounter in your backyards or on your travels.

One comment from Paul best summed up the day:

“This was the spark that I needed to start drawing again after so many years.”

A special thanks to the team at LEAF (Tooba, Emily & Jillaine) for all the behind the scenes work that went into making the class possible.
