Sketchbook Tip

Coiled sketchbooks are often made with paper covers that become tattered through daily use.  They are likely to tear off and do little to protect the pages inside.  Here’s how I make my sketchbooks more robust.

1.  Start by purchasing 2 identical sketchbooks.

2.  Take both sketchbooks and straighten out the kink in the coil (pliers help).

3.  Unwind the coiling from both books and remove the cardboard from one book to use as a cover for the other book.

4.  Wind the coil back on with the new cardboard cover, kink the end and you’re done!

Those coils have a funny habit of rolling away, so I suggest re-coiling the book with the missing cardboard till you’re ready to repeat the process.
