Van Gogh's Sparrow

Though overshadowed by his celebrated impastos of Sunflowers and Irises, Vincent Van Gogh made some remarkable drawings like this study of a dead sparrow.  There is both sensitivity and directness in his draughtsmanship that I admire.  These qualities are also evident in his landscape drawings made with a reed pen and numerous charcoal studies of peasant potato farmers.
