This watercolour painting of the mysterious Eastern Whip-poor-will has been reproduced in a limited edition of 60 prints. 25% of each print sold will go directly to support the conservation efforts of FLAP Canada and Swift Care Ontario.
Each 8x10 print and has been made locally in Toronto and is wrapped in acid free tissue. To prevent damage, prints ship flat in a protective sleeve.
The painting was completed over many hours with a bird borrowed from FLAP and a branch I carried home from a woodlot being cleared for development. Like other aerial insectivores, this nocturnal bird is facing tremendous pressures and has declined rapidly across Eastern North America. Let’s all hope ongoing field research will lead to increased conservation measures that will protect this voice of the night woods.
