Thank you to the 11 people who attended the 2 day Smartphone Nature Photography workshop at Toronto Botanical Garden. The workshop was fabulous because there much enthusiasm and everyone arrived with an eagerness to learn!
On the first day, attendees learned how to overcome 5 of the most common problems that arise when shooting in a garden location. Camera settings and practical techniques were also discussed in class before we ventured out into the gardens and ravine.
Day two was focused on learning how to edit, though we did squeeze in a bit of shooting before it began to rain! The participants were taken step by step through the editing process using a full featured app called Snapseed. This particular app has many advantages over the built in photo apps that come with Apple and Android devices. After an hour for individuals to fine tune their photos, we ended the workshop with a group critique where everyone talked about their images and the creative thoughts behind their decisions.
A selection of their superb photos are shown below and I'll add more images once everyone sends me their pictures.
It was a pleasure meeting all of you and thanks again for taking part in the workshop: Henry, Miriam, Olga, Susan, Sheila H, Peter, Maria, Vivienne, Karin, Sheila S and Catherine.
Special thanks to the Education Team at TBG for helping with preparations and classroom support.
