Dark storm clouds and sudden downpours were not enough to deter the 10 art enthusiasts who came out for my Field Sketching workshop last Sunday. Although the rain thwarted our attempts to sketch in the nearby meadows, we were able to bring the “field” indoors and draw from the park’s specimen collection. Nothing is beats hands-on sketching from life!
This workshop is part of a new series of art classes taking place at Tommy Thompson Park. For a number of people, this was their first time at TTP and some made the trek into the city from surrounding areas (Burlington, Newmarket & Mississauga) to experience the urban wilderness through art.
Thank you Karen, Helen, Judy, Stacey, Dana, Ruth, Michelle, Noah, Clara and Kasandra. I hope you left inspired, and will fill up your sketchbooks with all the weird & wonderful things you encounter in the field. Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any additional questions or want to share any new sketches you create.
A big thank you to Diana Wilson at the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority for organizing and making all the arrangements for this class happen.
